Province of North Brabant invests 150 million euros in care housing
The province of North Brabant has announced that it will invest 150 million euros in new forms of housing with care. This decision was made to address the shortage of suitable homes for people who require care. The investment is intended to ensure that more appropriate places become available for vulnerable residents in the coming years.
With this large sum, the province expects to be able to realize between 400 and 500 new residential units. These are homes where residents can live independently, but where professional care and support are also close by. This is an important step, as the demand for this type of housing in Brabant has grown significantly in recent years.
The plans focus on a better integration between housing and care. By building more of these homes, the province hopes that people will be able to continue living in their own environment for longer. In addition, it helps to reduce the pressure on regular care institutions, as residents receive the appropriate guidance in their new homes.
In the coming period, the province will work together with municipalities and care organizations to implement the plans concretely. It is not yet known exactly at which locations the new homes will be built, but the province emphasizes that this is a priority for the coming years. With this initiative, Brabant aims to be an example for other regions in the Netherlands that are struggling with similar challenges in the healthcare sector.
