Dutch company Healix wins award for innovative plastic recycling
The Dutch company Healix has won a major award. The company has been named 'Dutch Tech Innovator 2026'. This award is given to companies that use new technologies to solve major societal problems. Healix's win shows how important innovation is for the future of the Netherlands.
Healix is based in Maastricht and focuses on a specific problem: recycling hard-to-process plastic. Much plastic waste can already be reused effectively today, but some types are very difficult. Healix focuses primarily on synthetic fibers, such as old fishing nets and ropes from the fishing and agricultural sectors.
The company has developed a technique to convert this strong waste into new, clean plastic granules. These granules serve as raw material for new products. Through this process, waste that would normally end up in the ocean or a landfill becomes valuable again. This directly contributes to a circular economy, in which materials are reused over and over again.
The jury of the Dutch Tech Innovator award was very impressed with Healix's approach. According to the experts, the company combines technical knowledge with a clear vision for sustainability. Winning this award is a major recognition for the team and their work over the past years.
With this victory, Healix will receive more attention from investors and other companies. This helps them to further improve their technology and grow internationally. Healix's success is a positive signal for the Dutch tech sector, which is increasingly finding solutions to global environmental problems.
