New ICT benchmark aims to improve education in Europe
European educational and research institutions will soon be dealing with a new standard for information technology. A special ICT benchmark has been developed to map the digital performance of universities and colleges. This initiative is intended to help increase the quality of digital systems in the education sector.
Many institutions in Europe face the same technical problems. These include securing large amounts of data, improving digital learning environments, and efficiently organizing networks. By using this new benchmark, schools can compare their own performance with that of other institutions in Europe.
The goal of this project is not only to identify problems, but also to stimulate cooperation. When institutions realize where they are lagging behind, they can learn from the solutions that have proven successful elsewhere. This should lead to a more efficient deployment of ICT resources in higher education.
For Dutch colleges and universities, this new instrument offers opportunities to further professionalize their digital infrastructure. By looking at international best practices, they can better respond to the rapidly changing needs of students and teachers. The results of the benchmark are expected to be used in the coming period to make strategic choices for the future of education.
