Building your own gaming PC: a popular hobby in 2026
More and more Dutch people are choosing to assemble their own gaming computers in 2026. Instead of buying a pre-built model from a store, hobbyists are building their own systems to meet their exact personal requirements. This process is seen by many as an educational and satisfying challenge.
Building your own PC requires patience and the right parts. Important components such as the processor (CPU), the graphics card (GPU), and the memory (RAM) must be carefully selected. Good preparation is essential to ensure that all parts work well together within the case.
In addition to the hardware, software is also an important part of the process. Once the computer is physically assembled, the system must be configured via the BIOS. This is followed by the installation of the operating system, such as Windows 11. Beginners should pay extra attention here, as small errors during installation can cause problems.
For those who want to start this project, there are many online tutorials available today. These guides help builders step-by-step through the process, from the first screw to the final startup. It is a project that takes a few hours on average, but the result is a powerful machine that is fully tailored to the user.
