Formula 1 race in Zandvoort to end after this year
The Formula 1 races in the Netherlands are coming to an end. The organization of the Zandvoort circuit has announced that this year's edition will be the last time the Dutch Grand Prix is held. As a result, the event will permanently disappear from the official race calendar after 2024.
The Zandvoort Grand Prix has been a great success in recent years. Since the race's return in 2021, the event has drawn tens of thousands of fans to the coast. The popularity of the sport in the Netherlands, partly due to the success of Max Verstappen, led to enormous demand for tickets.
There was long-standing speculation about a possible move of the event to the TT Circuit in Assen. Rumors circulated that Assen would take over the race to keep Formula 1 in the Netherlands. However, the management of the circuit in Drenthe has stated that there are no plans for the Dutch GP to return at their location.
With the departure of the race from Zandvoort, the Netherlands is losing one of its biggest sporting events. Fans who still want to attend a race this year now have their last chance. For the time being, the organization is focusing on successfully completing the final edition.
