Dutch Grand Prix to be broadcast for free on television this year
Good news for Formula 1 fans in the Netherlands. The upcoming Zandvoort Grand Prix will be free for everyone to follow this year. The broadcaster Viaplay has decided to air all sessions of the race weekend via their open network, called Viaplay TV.
Normally, a paid subscription is required to watch Formula 1. By airing the broadcasts on Viaplay TV, fans do not need to take out a subscription to follow Max Verstappen's performance at the Zandvoort circuit.
The open channel is available to most households in the Netherlands through their television provider. This means that not only the main race on Sunday, but also the free practice sessions and qualifying can be viewed at no extra cost.
With this initiative, the broadcaster hopes to reach a larger audience during the important race weekend in their home country. It is a unique opportunity for motorsport enthusiasts who normally do not have access to Viaplay's paid sports channels.
