Well-known rally 'The Challenge' ends after 25 years
After a quarter of a century, a well-known Dutch event is coming to an end. The organization of 'The Challenge', a rally for luxury and fast cars, has decided to stop after 25 years. For many years, the event was known as an exclusive tour for wealthy car enthusiasts who traveled through Europe in their expensive vehicles.
The reason for stopping is striking. According to the organization, the character of the rally has changed over the years. While the rally used to be unique because of the powerful cars the participants brought with them, that is different now. Nowadays, very fast cars with high horsepower have become much more accessible to a wider audience.
The organization indicates that almost every modern mid-range car today is equipped with an engine producing 500 hp. As a result, the special aspect of the rally, which centered on driving exclusive and extremely powerful cars, has largely disappeared for them. The threshold for participating in such a ride has been lowered due to technological progress in the automotive world.
With the decision to stop, a tradition that has existed since 1999 comes to a definitive end. For many participants and fans of the event, this news marks the end of an era. The organization looks back on 25 years of adventures and special journeys throughout Europe.
