New smart glasses from Snapchat to be released in September, but not in the Netherlands
Snap, the well-known company behind the Snapchat app, has announced that its new smart glasses, called 'Specs', will be available starting September 16. The glasses will initially be released in the United States and a number of other selected countries.
The new glasses represent a significant step for the company into the world of augmented reality (AR). With 'Specs', users can see digital images projected over the real world. It is a technological feat that the company has been working on for quite some time to change the way we look at the world.
Although the launch is taking place in September, there is less good news for Dutch fans of the platform. The company has confirmed that the Netherlands is currently not among the first group of countries where the glasses will be sold. Users in the Netherlands will therefore have to be patient before they can purchase the device themselves.
It is not yet known when 'Specs' will come to the Dutch market. Snap has not yet shared further details regarding an international rollout in Europe. For now, Dutch consumers will have to keep an eye on developments abroad.
