Life sentence for Kiwi's murder in Perth & more
A life sentence has been handed down for the murder of a New Zealander in Australia, and a Nelson woman has been sentenced for a shooting incident. These court rulings provide resolution to two violent cases involving New Zealand citizens and local communities.
Tobias Marcus Nuttall, 33, will serve life in prison for the murder of 30-year-old New Zealander Alisha Lauren Hendren-Krippner in Perth, Australia. Nuttall admitted to stabbing Hendren-Krippner nine times at her home in August 2025. The sentencing brings a close to the legal proceedings following the death of the New Zealand national abroad.
A Nelson woman will serve four months of home detention—a sentence served at a residence rather than in prison—after firing eight shots at a former co-worker's cars. Marie Hearn, 62, used a .22 rifle during the attack, which targeted vehicles belonging to the colleague. The Nelson District Court delivered the sentence on Friday following the shooting incident.
