Noel Leeming to Reopen Store on Auckland's Queen Street
Noel Leeming, one of New Zealand’s largest electronics retailers, has announced it will open a new branch on Queen Street in Auckland. This move marks the company’s return to the city’s main shopping area after a three-year absence.
The retailer, which is part of The Warehouse Group, originally left Queen Street in 2021. At that time, the business was under significant pressure due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These economic challenges, along with the end of their property lease, forced the store to close its doors in the central business district.
However, the company now believes that Auckland’s city center is recovering. According to Noel Leeming, the area is "coming to life again" as more people return to the streets for work, tourism, and shopping. They stated that the timing is now right to establish a new presence in the heart of the city.
This reopening is being viewed as a positive sign for the local economy.
