Primary Health Nurses Offered 3.5 Per Cent Pay Increase
Primary health nurses across New Zealand are currently considering a new pay offer from their employers. The proposal includes a 3.5 per cent salary increase for registered nurses, enrolled nurses, and health-care assistants (HCAs).
In addition to the pay rise for clinical staff, the offer includes a salary increase of between 7 and 10 per cent for administrative staff. This specific group may also see an increase of $2 per hour, depending on their current roles and responsibilities.
This offer comes at a time when the healthcare sector is focusing on fair compensation for essential workers. The goal of the proposal is to address ongoing concerns regarding wages and to help retain skilled staff within primary health clinics throughout the country.
Union members and healthcare workers are now being encouraged to review the details of the offer. They have the opportunity to provide feedback and vote on whether to accept these terms or to request further negotiations.
As the consultation process begins, the outcome will be closely watched by the healthcare community. The decision made by these workers will impact the future of primary health services and the financial support provided to those working on the front lines of New Zealand’s medical system.
