Telenor has reached a milestone with 9,000 base stations in Norway
Telenor has marked an important technological milestone in Norway. The company has now set up its 9,000th base station, which is located in Pikefoss in Finnmark.
The new base station is strategically important for traffic safety and communication in the north. It covers an area of nearly 10 kilometers along the E45, a stretch that previously faced significant challenges with a lack of mobile coverage between Kautokeino and Alta.
The expansion is part of Telenor's work to improve the mobile network across the entire country. By closing such "coverage gaps," the company ensures that travelers and the local population have better access to both voice and mobile data in areas that were previously isolated.
For many who travel in the mountains or on long stretches in Northern Norway, stable mobile coverage is crucial for safety. The new station in Pikefoss is therefore an important contribution to the infrastructure in rural areas.
With this expansion, Telenor continues its work to modernize and extend the Norwegian mobile network. The company states that they will continue to invest in new base stations to ensure good coverage throughout the country in the years to come.
