Minister of Digitalization wants to use artificial intelligence to increase security
The new Minister of Digitalization and Public Governance, Torgeir Micalsen, has placed digital security at the top of his political agenda. In an era where technology is evolving rapidly, the minister believes that new strategies are necessary to protect Norwegian citizens and public services.
A central point in Micalsen's plan is the use of artificial intelligence (AI). The minister points out that AI not only poses a threat, but can also be an important tool for our defense. The development of digital threats is accelerating, and it is important that Norway keeps pace. Micalsen emphasizes that the state must take an active role in developing and adopting new technology that can make digital infrastructure more robust against attempts at hacking and cybercrime.
It is currently unclear exactly which technical measures will be prioritized first. The ministry will now work on drafting concrete plans for how AI can be integrated into national security efforts in a safe and efficient manner.
