Telenor stopped over one billion digital attacks last year
Telenor has published its latest security report, which shows a very high level of activity among cybercriminals. Over the past year, the company has blocked a total of 1.4 billion attempts at digital crime aimed at Norwegian users.
The most common methods used by criminals are phishing. This involves scammers sending fake emails or text messages to trick people into giving away sensitive information such as passwords or bank details. In addition, Telenor is seeing an increase in the use of fake websites and attempts to spread malicious software, often called "malware."
Security experts point out that the attacks are becoming increasingly sophisticated and credible. Many of the scam attempts are now written in good Norwegian, which makes it harder for ordinary users to detect that it is a scam. This is why telecommunications companies must use automated systems to stop the attacks before they reach customers.
Although technology stops most attempts, experts emphasize that private individuals must still remain vigilant. It is recommended to always check the sender of messages carefully and never click on suspicious links. Being critical of unexpected inquiries is the most important defense against digital crime in everyday life.
