Telenor acquires GlobalConnect’s fiber customers in Norway
Telenor has entered into an agreement to acquire the residential fiber business of GlobalConnect in Norway. This means that many Norwegian private customers who currently receive internet from GlobalConnect will be transferred to Telenor in the future.
GlobalConnect has chosen to sell this part of its business to focus more on the corporate market and the development of infrastructure. The company has long been an important player in the Norwegian broadband market, but their strategy is now shifting.
For the customers, the agreement means they will have a new provider. Telenor is already the country's largest telecommunications provider, and they will now take over responsibility for customer service and operations for the new fiber customers coming from GlobalConnect.
The acquisition has been approved by the authorities, which was a necessary step for the agreement to be completed. The parties have not disclosed the exact price of the sale, but confirm that the transition will take place in the coming period.
This change will affect thousands of Norwegian households. Telenor states that they will send out more information directly to the affected customers when the transfer begins, so that everyone knows what they need to do next.
