Microsoft builds new data center in Sandnes
The technology giant Microsoft has announced plans to establish a new data center region in Sandnes. This project marks a significant investment in Norwegian digital infrastructure and demonstrates the company's long-term commitment to the Norwegian market.
The establishment in Sandnes is part of a larger strategy to strengthen cloud service capacity in Norway. The data center will help ensure that Norwegian companies and public sector organizations have faster and more secure access to digital tools and artificial intelligence.
The project is expected to create new jobs in the region, both during the construction phase and once the data center is completed. Local authorities view the investment positively, as it reinforces Rogaland as an important hub for technology and innovation.
The expansion is in line with the increasing demand for computing power in society. With this new facility, Microsoft will be able to offer more stable services to customers across the country, while simultaneously strengthening its position as a key player in the Norwegian technology sector.
