Russian ambassador warns Norway about NATO cooperation
The Russian ambassador to Norway, Nikolay Korchunov, has issued a clear warning to Norwegian authorities. He claims that Norway has changed its role in NATO and is now acting as a base for military operations directed against Russia.
Korchunov believes that the increased activity and close cooperation with NATO create a serious risk to security in the High North. According to the ambassador, this development could lead to increased tension between the two neighboring countries.
Norwegian authorities have repeatedly emphasized that NATO membership is defensive. The goal of exercises and presence in the north is to ensure stability and security for Norway and the other member states of the alliance.
The situation in the High North is now being closely monitored by both politicians and experts. There is significant attention focused on how the relationship between Norway and Russia will continue to develop in a time characterized by a challenging security policy landscape in Europe.
