Government Pension Fund Global retains its US investments
Norway's largest fund, the Government Pension Fund Global, has no plans to sell its assets in the US. This was confirmed by the Minister of Finance in a recent statement. The fund, often referred to as the Oil Fund, is the world's largest sovereign wealth fund and manages enormous assets on behalf of the Norwegian population.
The fund has invested large sums in the American market over many years. Despite uncertainty in the global economy and changes in the political landscape, Norwegian authorities believe the investment strategy remains firm. Therefore, there are no plans to reduce ownership stakes in American companies at this time.
The Oil Fund is built from revenues from Norwegian oil and gas operations. The purpose of the fund is to ensure that the wealth benefits both current and future generations. By spreading investments across the world, including the US, the fund seeks to achieve good returns with an acceptable level of risk.
The decision to retain the American assets shows that Norway continues to follow a long-term investment strategy. The fund will continue to monitor the markets closely to ensure that the assets are managed in a secure manner for Norwegian society.
