Fewer Norwegian growth companies for the third year in a row
New figures from the auditing firm EY show a worrying trend for Norwegian business. The number of Norwegian growth companies continues to fall, and this is the third year in a row that the statistics have pointed downwards.
Since the peak year in 2022, the number of companies that meet the criteria for being a growth company has fallen significantly. Growth companies are often important drivers of innovation and new jobs in society, and the decline could therefore have consequences for the Norwegian economy in the long term.
Experts point out that the demanding economic climate with higher interest rates and market uncertainty has made it more difficult for many businesses to grow. Many companies are now finding it more challenging to raise capital and invest in new projects compared to a few years ago.
Although the situation is challenging, economists are closely monitoring future developments. There is anticipation regarding whether market measures or changes in framework conditions can help reverse the trend for Norwegian companies in the time to come.
