Eirik Lae Solberg is Oslo's new Governing Mayor
Eirik Lae Solberg from the Conservative Party took over as Governing Mayor of Oslo on October 25, 2023. He has extensive experience in local politics in the capital and has been a member of the City Council since 2007.
As Governing Mayor, Solberg has ultimate responsibility for the daily operations of the City of Oslo. He leads the City Cabinet, which functions as the municipality's government, and is responsible for ensuring that the policies adopted by the City Council are implemented in practice.
Solberg has distinguished himself as a clear voice in Oslo politics for many years. Before becoming Governing Mayor, he served as, among other things, leader of the opposition in the City Council, where he worked on issues related to schools, transport, and urban development.
With the change in the City Cabinet last autumn, the political majority in Oslo has shifted direction. Solberg and his cabinet are now responsible for managing the municipality over the coming years, with a focus on the priorities put forward by the Conservative Party and their partners.
There is great anticipation regarding how the new City Cabinet will shape the future of Oslo. The residents of the capital will be watching closely to see which changes Solberg and his team choose to implement in the time ahead.
