Eirik Lae Solberg is the Governing Mayor of Oslo
Eirik Lae Solberg from the Conservative Party (Høyre) took over as Governing Mayor of Oslo on October 25, 2023. He has extensive experience in local politics in the capital and is a central figure in the city's administration.
Solberg has been a member of the Oslo City Council since 2007. Throughout many years in politics, he has worked on various issues that affect the daily lives of Oslo's residents. His background in the City Council has given him a thorough understanding of how the municipality functions.
As Governing Mayor, Solberg holds the ultimate responsibility for the daily operations of the Municipality of Oslo. This includes, among other things, leading the City Cabinet, which functions as the municipality's "government." The City Cabinet makes decisions on everything from schools and health services to transport and urban development.
It is the Oslo City Council that elects the City Cabinet, and their task is to ensure that the decisions made are implemented in practice. As the leader of this work, Solberg is to govern the city in line with the political platform of the Conservative Party and their partners.
With his long experience as a local politician, Solberg now faces the task of leading Oslo through the coming years. Residents of the capital will notice the results of the City Cabinet's policies in many areas in the time to come.
