Norway assesses the risks of increased use of artificial intelligence
Norwegian authorities are now taking a closer look at how artificial intelligence (AI) is affecting society. As the use of digital tools increases, Norway is becoming increasingly dependent on large technology companies from the USA. This creates new challenges for both security and privacy.
Experts point out that many Norwegian companies and public services use American platforms to streamline their work. Although this provides many benefits, it also means that sensitive data can end up outside the country's control. The government is therefore considering new rules to ensure that the technology is used in a safe manner.
An important part of the debate concerns how we can maintain control over our own data. There is concern that Norway is becoming too dependent on technological solutions that we have not developed ourselves. Therefore, the authorities are looking into the possibilities of developing more local expertise and our own digital systems.
At the same time, it is important to find a balance between innovation and regulation. Norway wants to be a country that adopts new technology to create growth, but the safety of its citizens must always come first. Work on creating clear guidelines for AI is expected to continue throughout the year.
