Telenor acquires GlobalConnect's fiber customers
Telenor has entered into an agreement to acquire the Norwegian residential customer business of the company GlobalConnect. The acquisition means that Telenor will take over all the fiber customers that GlobalConnect currently has in the Norwegian private market.
GlobalConnect has long been an important player in fiber expansion in Norway. The company has now chosen to sell this part of its business in order to focus more on the corporate market and other strategic areas of investment in the future.
For the customers, this means they will become part of Telenor's network. Telenor is Norway's largest telecommunications provider, and they already have an extensive infrastructure throughout the country. The company states that they will work to ensure a smooth transition for all affected customers.
The agreement has now been formally approved, which means that the sale can be completed as planned. This is a significant change in the Norwegian broadband market, as it results in a larger portion of fiber customers being consolidated under one of the largest players in the industry.
