Telenor acquires GlobalConnect's fiber customers
Telenor has entered into an agreement to acquire the Norwegian private customer business of the company GlobalConnect. The acquisition means that Telenor will take over all the fiber customers that GlobalConnect currently has in the Norwegian private market.
GlobalConnect has long been an important player in fiber expansion in Norway. Now, the company has received approval to sell this part of its business. The company wishes to focus more on the corporate market and the development of digital infrastructure in the future.
For the customers, this means that they will be transferred to Telenor over a period of time. Both companies state that they will work to ensure the transition is as simple as possible for the affected customers. Telenor is already one of the largest providers of internet and TV services in Norway.
The acquisition is part of a larger shift in the Norwegian telecom market. By selling its private customers, GlobalConnect can concentrate on its core areas, while Telenor strengthens its position as a provider of broadband to Norwegian homes.
The agreement is now formally approved, and the companies will begin the work of moving customers over to Telenor's systems. Customers will receive more information directly from the companies when the process begins.
