Telenor has opened base station number 9,000 in Finnmark
Telenor has now reached an important milestone in the development of the mobile network in Norway. The company has officially opened its 9,000th base station, which is located at Pikefoss on the Finnmark plateau.
The new base station is located along the E45 between Kautokeino and Alta. This area has long had a significant coverage gap of almost 10 kilometers, which has created challenges for traffic safety and communication for those traveling on this stretch.
The project is described as one of Telenor's most expensive base stations to build. The demanding location on the plateau has made the work both complicated and costly, but the company emphasizes that the investment is important to ensure good coverage in rural areas.
With this development, the mobile connection along the important road stretch will be significantly improved. This provides increased safety for both the local population and travelers moving through the weather-exposed area in Northern Norway.
