Government Pension Fund Global retains investments in the USA
Norway's largest fund, the Government Pension Fund Global, has no plans to sell its investments in the USA. The fund, often referred to as the Oil Fund, manages assets worth over 2 trillion dollars on behalf of the Norwegian population.
The Minister of Finance confirms that the fund's strategy remains unchanged despite uncertainty in the global economy. The USA is one of the most important markets for the fund's investments, and Norwegian authorities see no reason to change this course now.
The Oil Fund is the world's largest sovereign wealth fund. It owns a significant share of the stocks in thousands of companies across the globe. The decision to retain the American assets is important for the economic stability of Norway.
The fund's mandate is to ensure that the revenues from oil and gas activities benefit both current and future generations. By investing broadly in global markets, the fund spreads risk to ensure a secure return over time.
There are currently no signs that the fund will change its long-term investment strategy. Norwegian authorities are closely monitoring developments in the American market, but emphasize that the fund is built to withstand fluctuations in the global economy.
