New technology and tough times for Norwegian truck owners
At the major transport trade fair IAA Transportation in Hannover, a number of new truck brands and advanced technologies have been presented. Development in the industry is moving quickly, and many manufacturers are now investing heavily in electric solutions and new digital systems for the transport sector.
The Norwegian Truck Owners' Association (NLF) is following this development closely. They point out that these are demanding times for those involved in transport in Norway. Especially for small businesses and independent truck owners, it is challenging to keep up with the rapid changes in the market.
One of the main reasons for the uncertainty is the high costs associated with investing in new technology. When the truck fleet is to be renewed with environmentally friendly alternatives, it requires large financial investments. For many small operators, it is difficult to know which technology will be the most profitable to bet on in the future.
Despite the technological advances being showcased in Germany, the everyday life of many Norwegian transporters is characterized by financial pressure. The NLF emphasizes that the framework conditions must be good enough for smaller businesses to also survive in an industry undergoing major change.
