Torgeir Micaelsen appointed as new Minister of Digitalization
The government has appointed Torgeir Micaelsen from the Labour Party as the new Minister of Digitalization and Public Governance. The appointment took place on Friday, September 11, and he is thus taking over a central role in the Norwegian government.
As Minister of Digitalization, Micaelsen will be responsible for leading the work on modernizing the public sector. This includes, among other things, developing digital services intended to make everyday life easier for both citizens and businesses in Norway.
Micaelsen has extensive political experience and comes directly from another position before now stepping into the ministerial office. His task will be to ensure that Norway continues to be at the forefront regarding the use of new technology in public administration.
The new minister will now begin the work of familiarizing himself with the various issues within the ministry. There are expectations regarding how he will prioritize the digitalization of public services in the time ahead.
