Frp leader demands answers from the Prime Minister regarding Norwegian support for Iran
The leader of the Progress Party, Sylvi Listhaug, has directed a formal question to Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. She is seeking clarity on how Norway relates to Iran and the country's governance.
The background for the inquiry is concern regarding Norwegian policy toward the Iranian regime. Listhaug believes it is important that the government clarifies whether Norwegian funds or political measures could be interpreted as support for the country's current leadership.
In her question, the Frp leader emphasizes that there must be no doubt about Norway's stance on terrorism and dictatorship. She therefore demands that the Prime Minister answer whether Norway has contributed support that can be linked to the regime's actions.
The matter has sparked debate over how Norway balances diplomatic relations with demands for human rights. So far, there has been no official response from the Prime Minister's Office to Listhaug's inquiry.
The question of the relationship with Iran remains a topic in Norwegian foreign policy. It is expected that the matter will be followed up further in the Storting in the time to come.
