New partnership aims to get more girls to choose technology subjects
Technology subjects in Norway have faced a challenge with gender imbalance for many years. Today, fewer than one in three students pursuing a technology education are women. The organization Tekna wants to do something about this through a new partnership.
Tekna has now entered into a collaboration with Girl Tech Norway. The goal of the project is to increase interest in STEM subjects among girls at a young age. By creating more arenas for learning and mastery, they hope to inspire more girls to see the opportunities that lie within technological professions.
It is important for the Norwegian labor market that more people choose technological educations in the future. As technology develops rapidly, society needs a diversity of perspectives and expertise to solve complex problems. By recruiting more broadly, it ensures that more talent gets the opportunity to contribute.
The partnership between Tekna and Girl Tech Norway will facilitate activities that make technology more accessible and exciting. Through targeted measures, they want to show that STEM subjects are for everyone, regardless of gender. The goal is for more girls to feel confident and motivated to choose technical studies when the time comes.
