New partnership aims to get more girls to choose technology
Technology subjects in Norway have faced a challenge regarding gender balance for many years. Statistics show that fewer than one in three students currently pursuing a technological education are women. This is a situation that many professional communities wish to change to ensure sufficient expertise in the future.
To meet this challenge, the organization Tekna has entered into a new partnership with Girl Tech Norway. The goal of the collaboration is to increase interest in STEM subjects among girls. By starting early, they hope to inspire more young women to see the opportunities that exist within technology.
The project focuses on showing that technology is an exciting field with many career opportunities. Through various initiatives, they will offer learning arenas where girls can explore technology in a safe and inclusive environment. The goal is to break down old prejudices about who is suited to work in technical fields.
It is important for the Norwegian labor market that more people choose technical educations. By recruiting from the entire population, society gains access to more knowledge and new perspectives. The partnership between Tekna and Girl Tech Norway is an important step on the road toward a more balanced technology industry in the years to come.
