Government Pension Fund Global retains its US investments
Norway's largest fund, the Government Pension Fund Global, has no plans to sell its assets in the USA. This has been confirmed by the Minister of Finance. The fund, often referred to as the Oil Fund, is the world's largest sovereign wealth fund and manages enormous assets on behalf of the Norwegian population.
The fund has invested large sums in the American market over many years. Despite uncertainty in the global economy and political discussions, the strategy for its American stocks remains unchanged. The Minister of Finance emphasizes that the fund is intended to be a long-term investor.
The decision to retain the assets in the USA is important for the Norwegian economy. The Oil Fund is built up from revenues from Norwegian oil and gas activities, and the returns from these investments help finance the welfare state. By maintaining a broad portfolio abroad, the fund spreads its risk.
The fund will continue to follow its established investment strategy moving forward. There are no signs that the large American positions will be reduced in the near future. This provides predictability for the fund's further development and management.
