New collaboration to inspire girls to choose technology
The organization Girl Tech Norway has entered into a new collaboration with the trade union Tekna. The goal of the partnership is to give more girls in the 5th grade the opportunity to learn about technology and science in a practical and engaging way.
Today, there is still a gender imbalance in the technology industry. By offering learning early in the school curriculum, the organizations hope to spark an interest in coding and natural sciences among young girls before they make their first choices for further education.
The project emphasizes practical learning. Through the collaboration, students will work on concrete tasks that demonstrate how technology functions in the real world. This is intended to make the subjects more understandable and less theoretical for the children.
The initiative is part of a larger effort in Norway to increase recruitment into technical professions. By starting as early as primary school, the aim is to build confidence and curiosity among the girls, so that more will choose to study technology and science later on.
