680,000 young people get free access to Norwegian local newspapers
It is now becoming easier for young adults to stay updated on the news. Amedia, one of the country's largest newspaper publishers, has decided that 680,000 young people in Norway will receive free digital access to over 120 different local newspapers.
The initiative is aimed at the age group currently in an establishment phase. The goal of the project is to ensure that young people have access to reliable information and local journalism, which is essential for a well-functioning democracy.
For the media houses, this is an investment in the future. By offering free content, they hope to foster good media habits among the younger generation, so that they continue to read the news as they get older.
The digital access will give young people the opportunity to keep track of what is happening in their local community, as well as gain insight into national issues. This is an important change in a time when many young people get their news from social media, where the quality of information can vary.
With this scheme, Amedia hopes to strengthen interest in journalism among young people. The project is one of the largest of its kind in Norway and could have a significant impact on how future readers engage with the news landscape.
