Telenor acquires GlobalConnect's fiber customers
Telenor has entered into an agreement to acquire the private fiber segment of the company GlobalConnect in Norway. This means that customers who currently have fiber broadband from GlobalConnect will be transferred to Telenor in the time ahead.
The agreement entails Telenor taking over responsibility for thousands of private customers across the country. GlobalConnect has chosen to sell this part of its business in order to focus more on the corporate market and the development of infrastructure.
For customers, this means they will have Telenor as their new internet service provider. The companies state that they will work closely together to ensure a smooth transition for all affected users, so that services function as normal throughout the process.
The acquisition has now been approved by the authorities. This is a significant change in the Norwegian broadband market, as Telenor strengthens its position as one of the largest providers of fiber to private homes in Norway.
The two companies will send out more information directly to the customers who are affected. For the time being, there have been no reports of major changes to prices or subscriptions for the customers who are now being moved to Telenor.
