Telenor acquires GlobalConnect's fiber customers in Norway
Telenor has entered into an agreement to acquire the Norwegian residential customer business of the company GlobalConnect. The acquisition means that Telenor will take over the fiber customers that GlobalConnect currently has in the Norwegian market.
GlobalConnect has long been an important player in fiber broadband for private individuals in Norway. Now, the company has chosen to sell this part of its business to focus more on other areas of its business strategy. The agreement is part of a larger shift in the Norwegian telecom market.
For customers, this means that they will have Telenor as their new service provider in the future. Telenor is already the largest telecommunications operator in Norway, and this acquisition will further strengthen its position regarding the development and operation of fiber networks for private homes.
The authorities have now approved the sale, which means that the process of transferring customers from GlobalConnect to Telenor can begin. Both companies state that they will work to ensure the transition is as simple as possible for the affected customers.
