Romantic knife fights in Vienna
The Hernals area in the Austrian capital Vienna witnessed a serious escalation on Saturday evening, as a 16-year-old girl was involved in a violent threat incident against a 30-year-old man, who was previously her partner.
The young man tried to retrieve some of his personal belongings from her apartment, but the Austrian girl refused to let him leave and followed him into the street. There, she threatened him while holding a knife to his neck, prompting witnesses to immediately notify the police.
The police from the Rötzergasse station quickly arrived at the scene and temporarily arrested the girl, and the knife used was seized. A restraining order was imposed against her, and charges were filed against her related to serious threats and attempted assault.
In a separate incident that occurred about half an hour later in the Brigittenau area, the police also witnessed a serious threat incident inside a home between a couple. In a moment of extreme tension, a 45-year-old Romanian woman threatened her 38-year-old husband by placing a knife in front of his face, threatening to kill him, and forcing him to leave the apartment.
The husband fled to the street where he was met by the police from the Dresdner Straße station. During his interrogation, the wife was standing at the apartment window screaming incomprehensibly, and it seemed she was under the influence of alcohol, as tests showed her blood alcohol level was 1.24 promille.
She was also temporarily detained, and the police confiscated the knife used. A restraining order has been imposed against her, and she now faces charges of attempted serious coercion.
