Official request to lift the immunity of Kickl, leader of the FPÖ party
The public prosecutor's office in Vienna has requested the lifting of parliamentary immunity for FPÖ party leader Herbert Kickl. This request came based on a report submitted by SPÖ party leader and Austrian Vice Chancellor Andreas Babler, after Kickl referred to him during his appearance on May 1 in Linz-Urfahr as a 'leftist tick'.
The Secretary General of the FPÖ, Christian Hafenecker, considered this measure unprecedented and reveals what he described as Babler's 'incompetence'.
Hafenecker criticized the Vice Chancellor's reaction, stating that it is concerning how sensitive he is, even though he usually directs sharp criticisms towards the FPÖ.
He added that Babler continues the tradition of the "glass chin lineage within the Socialist Party," describing him as the "sensitive flower" and the "princess on the pea."
