World Health Organization: Alarming increase in attacks on medical centers worldwide
The World Health Organization (WHO) has revealed in a recent report that there has been a rapid increase in the number of attacks on medical centers and healthcare personnel worldwide. According to the organization, more than 10,000 attacks on medical facilities have been recorded across 29 countries and territories.
As a result of these attacks, approximately 5,700 people have lost their lives, while more than 8,500 individuals have been injured. The World Health Organization has expressed deep concern over these incidents, stating that attacks on medical centers are a serious violation of human rights.
The report emphasizes that medical personnel and hospitals must remain protected even during conflicts. The World Health Organization has strongly criticized the lack of action against those responsible for these attacks and the situation of 'impunity.' The organization believes that the lack of accountability is further fueling such incidents.
Medical experts from around the world, including Pakistan, have reacted to this report by stating that keeping hospitals free from all forms of violence is essential for global peace and humanity. Attacks on medical centers not only endanger the lives of patients but also disrupt the entire healthcare system.
The World Health Organization has called on the international community to take concrete steps to ensure the protection of medical centers. Under international law, hospitals and medical personnel are entitled to protection, and preventing attacks on them is the collective responsibility of governments worldwide.
