Pakistan accuses India of violating Kashmir and minority rights at the UN
Pakistan has strongly criticized India at the United Nations Security Council. The Pakistani delegates emphasized that India is involved in serious human rights violations in occupied Kashmir and that the people there are being deprived of their fundamental right to self-determination.
Pakistan states that the ongoing curfew and the suspension of communication links in occupied Kashmir are a clear violation of international law. The Government of Pakistan has demanded that the international community play its role in a peaceful resolution of this issue so that lasting peace can be established in the region.
In addition, Pakistan has also expressed grave concern over the discriminatory treatment of minorities in India, particularly Muslims. According to Pakistani officials, religious freedom in India is under threat and incidents targeting minorities have increased, which is a worrying situation.
India has rejected these allegations, terming them baseless. The Indian representatives maintain that Kashmir is their internal matter and that steps are being taken to normalize the situation there.
The debate at the UN session reflects the strained relations between the two countries. Global observers believe that dialogue and diplomatic efforts between the two nations are essential for establishing peace in South Asia.
