State of emergency imposed in Pakistan's Punjab province
Authorities have imposed a state of emergency in Pakistan's Punjab province due to political tensions. This decision was made in view of the deteriorating law and order situation in the province, which is considered a stronghold of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
According to government sources, Section 144 has been imposed in various cities of the province, under which the gathering of four or more people in one place will be prohibited. The purpose of this measure is to prevent any kind of protest and potential clashes in public places.
Police and law enforcement agencies have been placed on high alert to deal with any untoward incident. Security for key government buildings and sensitive locations has been further tightened, while surveillance at the city's entry and exit points has also been increased.
On the other hand, varying reactions are emerging from political parties regarding this decision. While government circles describe it as necessary for law and order, opposition parties have criticized it, terming it a violation of fundamental rights.
The administration has appealed to citizens to cooperate in maintaining peace and not to believe in rumors. Currently, security forces are patrolling to keep the situation under control, and the situation is being continuously monitored.
