Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s key statement on budget and constitutional amendments
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has clarified that there are currently no discussions regarding the 28th Amendment to the Constitution. Speaking to the media in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, he stated that his party's focus is currently centered on budget matters with the government.
Bilawal Bhutto said that rising inflation in the country has made life difficult for ordinary citizens. Therefore, the PPP wants concrete steps to be taken in budget negotiations with the federal government to provide relief to the public. He emphasized that improving economic policies is a pressing need of the time.
Discussing constitutional matters, he stated that the government cannot pass any constitutional amendment without the support of the PPP. He claimed that his party has always advocated for provincial rights and ensured the representation of all provinces in the Supreme Court and the Federal Constitutional Court.
The PPP Chairman added that his party will continue to play its role for democratic stability and provincial autonomy in the country. He clarified that public interest will be prioritized before any new legislation to ensure improvement in the country's political and economic situation.
Finally, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed his resolve that the PPP will not remain silent on public issues despite being part of the government. He said his priority is to assist the poor and steer the country out of the economic crisis.
