Need for a modern storage network for food security in Pakistan
The establishment of warehouses (silos) equipped with modern technology has been declared essential to overcome food shortages and ensure food security in Pakistan. Government officials state that traditional methods of storing grain in the country are now proving to be inadequate, making a modern system a critical need of the hour.
According to Saif-ur-Rehman, the proposed network of high-tech silos will be equipped with modern facilities. Automated systems to control temperature and humidity will be installed in these warehouses so that wheat and other commodities can be preserved for long periods without spoilage.
This project will also include modern monitoring and an automated fumigation system. This will not only prevent the wastage of grain but also help in controlling hoarding issues, which will ensure a consistent supply of food in the market.
Experts believe that if this modern system is successfully implemented, Pakistan will be able to preserve its agricultural produce more effectively. This step will not only be beneficial for farmers but will also make the provision of affordable and high-quality food possible for ordinary citizens.
In the future, such projects can prove to be a strong foundation for Pakistan's economy and food self-sufficiency. The government is now working on various stages to implement this network so that the country can be protected from food crises.
