Monsoon rains continue in Pakistan, citizens advised to exercise caution
The monsoon rain spell continues in various cities across Pakistan, making the weather pleasant. The Meteorological Department has predicted that more rain is expected in the upper regions of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Kashmir over the next few days. While these rains have led to a significant decrease in the intensity of the heat, there is also a risk of water accumulation in low-lying areas.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has directed relevant agencies to remain on alert. Officials have stated that citizens should avoid going near rainwater drains and refrain from unnecessary travel. Tourists are also advised to be cautious, especially in mountainous areas, due to the risk of landslides.
On the other hand, routine activities continue in the country's commercial hubs. The rains have put pressure on the electricity supply system, leading to complaints of power outages in some areas. Relevant power companies state that they are working promptly to resolve technical faults.
The effects of climate change are being observed globally, resulting in record-breaking rainfall and heatwaves around the world. Experts say that in view of the changing weather patterns in Pakistan, improving urban planning and drainage systems is a critical need of the hour.
To keep track of weather conditions in the near future, it is essential to stay informed through the Meteorological Department's website and media reports. The government has appealed to the public to contact district administration helpline numbers in case of any emergency.
