Lahore High Court issues stay order on repatriation orders for Afghan medical students
The Lahore High Court has suspended the orders issued by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) for Afghan medical students to leave the country. This court decision is a significant development for those students who are currently enrolled in various medical educational institutions across Pakistan.
Clarifying the matter, Foreign Office spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan stated that the Government of Pakistan has not issued any orders to expel all Afghan medical students from the country. He rejected reports claiming that the government is sending these students back.
During the hearing of this case, the court has sought a response from the relevant authorities to further clarify the situation. For the time being, the court has halted the implementation of the PMDC's orders, which will assist the students in continuing their education.
A large number of Afghan students are pursuing medical education in Pakistan. For these students and their families, this court decision has brought great relief, as their academic future depended on this ruling.
Further hearings for this case will take place in the coming days, during which legal aspects will be examined. Further clarification is expected from the government and educational institutions on this matter to ensure there are no obstacles in the students' educational journey.
