Medical Negligence in Sindh Hospitals: Concerns Over HIV Spread
The poor state of medical facilities in Sindh's government hospitals has once again made headlines. During a recent inspection of the Valika Hospital in Karachi, serious lapses in the medical system were revealed, raising fears of an increase in HIV cases in the area.
According to the report, there are no proper arrangements in place at the hospital for the sterilization of medical equipment or the disposal of used needles. Experts state that the unsafe reuse of needles or disposing of them in the open is becoming a major cause for the rapid spread of dangerous diseases.
In addition to this situation, staff absenteeism at the hospital is also a major issue. Ordinary citizens are facing severe hardships due to the lack of timely medical assistance and proper care for patients. So far, no concrete strategy has been presented by the hospital administration to overcome these problems.
Health experts have demanded that the government take immediate steps to audit medical standards in hospitals across Sindh. Providing modern medical equipment and ensuring staff attendance in hospitals is the need of the hour to safeguard the lives of patients.
