Increasing use of drones on the India-Pakistan border
Security issues on the international border between India and Pakistan are once again in the news. Indian officials state that despite the installation of fencing along the border, an increase in illegal activities has been observed. In view of this situation, there is an emphasis on the need to further tighten surveillance systems on the borders of both countries.
According to senior Indian police officers, there has been a significant increase in incidents of drones entering Indian territory from the Pakistani side during the year 2024. According to reports, narcotics, weapons, and explosives are being delivered to areas of Indian Punjab via these drones. Authorities claim that these drones are flown from areas deep within Pakistan.
Indian security agencies have termed these incidents a major challenge to national security. They state that while the high walls and fences on the border block land routes, this aerial movement is creating a new difficulty. To deal with this issue, the use of modern technology and anti-drone systems is now being considered.
There has been no official response from Pakistan regarding these allegations so far. However, there is a fear of increased tension between the two neighboring countries due to such cross-border activities. International observers believe that dialogue and cooperation between the two countries are essential for resolving border disputes.
Finding a solution to this problem in the future is the responsibility of both countries. If the surveillance system on the border is not improved, these illegal activities could pose further threats to regional peace. The public and government circles are now watching to see what concrete steps are taken to control this situation.
