The news of Mai Sabahi's death: The reality of an old rumor spreading on social media
Recently, the news of the death of an elderly woman, Mai Sabahi, went viral rapidly on social media and news channels in Pakistan. The report claimed that Mai Sabahi had been murdered, which led to widespread anger and resentment among the public.
However, investigations have revealed that this news is completely baseless and false. In reality, the incident of Mai Sabahi's death is years old, which was presented as a new event. Resharing old news created unnecessary fear and anxiety among the public.
This incident has once again raised questions about the responsible use of digital media in Pakistan. Experts say that forwarding any news on social media without verification can prove harmful to society.
It is essential for media organizations and ordinary citizens to ascertain the truth before sharing any sensitive news. Spreading unverified information not only creates misunderstandings but also obscures the actual facts.
This incident teaches us that not every piece of news on the internet is true. We should be responsible citizens and must verify any news through authentic sources before believing it.
