Pakistan: MDCAT and Registration Made Mandatory for Medical Education Abroad
The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has announced new regulations for students wishing to pursue medical education abroad. It will now be mandatory for these students to pass the MDCAT exam and register with the PMDC. The aim of this decision is to secure the future of Pakistani students and ensure the quality of their education.
According to the new rules, students who wish to go to another country to become doctors must obtain an NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the PMDC before their departure. The Council has clarified that only those students who have passed the MDCAT, the entrance test held in Pakistan, will be able to go abroad. This measure will ensure that students possess basic medical knowledge.
The PMDC has also advised students to thoroughly verify the reputation and standards of any foreign institution before taking admission. According to the Council, students should only choose universities that are internationally recognized so that they do not face any difficulties in the registration of their degrees later on.
Additionally, the Council has directed students to obtain a 'multiple-entry visa' for their respective countries. This visa will facilitate students to easily travel to and from Pakistan during their studies. The Council states that many students often have to leave their education incomplete due to visa issues, so thorough preparation beforehand is essential.
The objective of these new measures by the PMDC is to protect Pakistani students from fraud and ensure that they return after obtaining quality education from abroad. The Council has urged parents and students to strictly follow all these instructions so that their time and money are not wasted.
