Pakistan: Security of Chinese citizens is top priority, $440 million agreements signed
The Prime Minister of Pakistan has declared the safety of Chinese citizens in the country as the government's top priority. This statement comes at a time when new business agreements worth $440 million have been signed between Pakistan and China in the health sector.
According to data from the National Counter Terrorism Authority, 20 Chinese citizens were killed and 34 injured in various attacks between 2021 and December 2024. Following these incidents, the Government of Pakistan has accelerated measures to further tighten the security of Chinese experts and workers.
The Prime Minister emphasized that ensuring the protection of foreign nationals working in Pakistan, especially Chinese citizens, is the responsibility of the state. He directed the relevant authorities that no negligence in security arrangements will be tolerated.
These new agreements in the health sector will further strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries. These projects will help improve medical facilities and facilitate the transfer of modern technology in Pakistan, which will also directly benefit the local population.
